Chelsea Peretti Remembers Her "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Co-Star Andre Braugher in New Film

Former Star Reflects on the Late Actor's Legacy

Peretti's "First Time Female Director" Explores Themes of Friendship and Loss

Actress and comedian Chelsea Peretti has shared her thoughts on the late Andre Braugher, her former co-star in the popular comedy series "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." Braugher, who passed away in 2020, played Captain Ray Holt in the show, and Peretti has paid tribute to him in her new comedy film, "First Time Female Director."

Released on Roku on March 8, "First Time Female Director" follows Peretti's character, a first-time female director who must navigate the challenges of the Hollywood industry while coping with the loss of a close friend.

In an interview with Collider, Peretti spoke about the inspiration behind the film and how Braugher's passing influenced her work. "Andre was such an amazing actor and person," she said. "He was always so kind and supportive, and I wanted to honor his memory in some way."

Peretti added that the film's themes of friendship, loss, and resilience resonated with her after losing Braugher. "I wanted to tell a story about how we can find strength and joy even in the face of adversity."

Peretti's film has been praised for its authenticity and humor. It features an all-female cast and crew, and Peretti used her own experiences as a female filmmaker to inspire the story.

"I wanted to create something that was both entertaining and thought-provoking," she said. "I hope that audiences will come away from the film feeling empowered and inspired."
